Life Skills Based Education (LSBE):
WHO defines Life Skills based education as "abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life". They represent the psycho-social skills that determine valued behaviour and include reflective skills like problem-solving & critical thinking, to personal skills like interpersonal skills, and to self-awareness. Practicing life skills leads to qualities such as self-esteem, tolerance and sociability, to action competencies to take action and generate change, and to capabilities to have the freedom to decide who to be and what to do. Life skills based education (LSBE) are thus distinctly different from physical or perceptual motor skills, such as health or practical skills, as well as from livelihood skills, such as money management, crafts and entrepreneurial skills . Livelihood & Health and education however, can be designed to be complementary to LSBE (life skills based education), and vice versa.Expected learning outcomes of Life Skills based education (LSBE) include a combination of values, attitudes, knowledge and skills with a particular emphasis on those skills that related to problem solving & critical thinking, communication and self management and and inter-personal skills.
